BBR Karting has been in operation since 2001. But the jorney didn’t start there. It started in 1994 when Blake Choquer and his father Don purchased a BRM/Comer cadet kart. Blake started karting in 1994 in Junior 1 2 Cycle. It was a slow start for Blake at first because he had to compete against some of the best juniors. Four years later Blake won his first race in Junior Sportsman. Blake competed at all of the local Westwood races and at a few regional races throughout BC.

In 1999 Blake got the opportunity of a life time. He was able to work and learn from one of the best engine tuners and Kartshop owners, Anthony Leung. For the next 4 years Blake spent every day after-school and most days during the summer working at A&J. His hard work payed off in 2000 when he finished 2nd at the US Nationals in ICA. Again in the following year Blake competed at the IKF US Nationals in Reed Rotary Lt in Santa Maria, Cali. That was his first major win and coming home with a Duffy has thus far been the highlight of his karting career.Blake was also given the opportunity to travel with Anthony Leung to Europe, where they travelled with Peter De Bruijn who is the owner of PDB. PDB has won three European Championships in the last five years. In Holland Blake got the opportunity to learn from Peter and Lotta about chassis, and engines. He also learned ways to perfect his driving technique on the track with three of PDB’s top mechanics. Blake has also had the opportunity to work with one of the USA ‘s greatest engine builder, Jack Lehmann. In 2006 it was a dream come true for Blake. At the 2006 Nationals Blake qualified 2nd in the Rotax class, with one heat win, and a couple podiums. Overall Blake finished 3rd and was selected to compete at the 2006 Rotax World Finals in Portugal. In Portugal Blake qualified 58th out of 69 drivers. In the heat races he moved up quickly finishing 11, 15, 17. In the Prefinal Blake started 27 and got knocked out in turn 1. In the final Blake started 30 and slowly moved up through the field. Blake was up to 13 spot when he got knocked off the track. Blake finished 27th and was so happy to have experienced one of the greatest most memorable karting events ever.In 2006 Blake was also selected to compete on the Discovery Channel’s Star Racer Reality show in which the winner wins a full ride in Star Mazda. Blake and 18 of Canada’s top racers competed in Montreal at Jim Russell Racing School. Although Blake didn’t win he learned so much and had a great experience trying a racecar for the first time. From 2006 to 2015 BBR Karting has had numerous titles including 9 appearances at the Rotax Grand Finals, 2X US Rotax National Championship, 10X Western Canadian National Championship, 3X IKF US National Championships, 3X Canadian Rok Cup Championships, and a 6th place finish at the 2010 Rotax Grand Finals.
